    Find out about the top five tech giants who have continued to have a growing influence in the U.S. economy and stock market. The market capitalization of these five stocks, including Amazon, Microsoft, Google, Facebook, and Apple, is $7 trillion. Learn how this compares to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of other nations. At the recording of this podcast, these five tech stocks made up 22% of the S&P 500 index, surpassing the dot-com era. Only ten years ago, the top five stocks made up only 11% of the S&P 500 index. These tech giants have played a big part in the performance of the S&P 500 in 2020 giving an average return of over 36% through July of this year as compared to the overall S&P 500 index only up about 2% through the same time period.
