Debbie Richards is a Receptionist and Administrative Assistant with Syverson Strege. Her main focus is acting as a liaison between Syverson Strege and our clients. In this position, she is the face of the company, always seeking ways to serve the clients’ best interests.
Prior to joining Syverson Strege, Debbie provided central support and customer service at a busy funeral home. She held administrative positions in the private and public sectors for many years before that, most notably at the Iowa Department of Public Safety for nearly twenty years. Debbie attended Iowa State University and earned a degree in Criminal Justice at Des Moines Area Community College.
I am a lifelong resident of West Des Moines, and I was raised in a modern Italian-American home. Most activities involved extended family and cultural tradition. My family traveled often, and I was active in school and community activities. Over the years I learned to work hard, fight against injustice and ignorance, take chances, and conquer adversity. And if we are to be successful, we must embrace all sorts of people and situations and show kindness and respect to all things.
My favorite place is my home, where I enjoy spending time with my family, doing projects, and relaxing. I am a news junkie—local, national, worldwide, and entertainment. My interests include human rights and progressive populism; sewing, cooking, and cleaning; coffee shops; motor sports; and antiques. I cherish antiques and old things. They have grace, beauty, eccentricity, and a sense of humor that only age can bestow. And so it is with people. “Embrace the glory of age.” –Lailah Gifty Akita
