Kevin McLean is Senior Portfolio Manager at Syverson Strege and is an investor at heart. He earned his CFA in 2005 and brings more than 20 years of investment experience, most recently at Principal Financial Group, where he analyzed investments for the Principal MidCap and Blue Chip funds. Kevin's passion for investing and service to others brought him to Syverson Strege to work closely with clients on their investment portfolios.
His interest in investing started in the 8th grade with the stock market simulation and continued when his dad helped him buy his first stock. Warren Buffett's Shareholder Letters got Kevin hooked on value investing. As a lifelong learner, Kevin continues to expand his knowledge through reading and podcasts.
Personal:
Kevin most enjoys time in nature with his family. Some favorites include the North Shore of Minnesota, Rocky Mountain National Park, and most recently, New Zealand. Kevin met his wife, Kate, at Drake University. Before kids, he completed three marathons, among them the London Marathon. He still enjoys running, just at less ambitious distances.
Kevin and Kate have two daughters who are active in the arts at Waukee Schools, including marching band and various musicals. The family dog, Rosie, adds a burst of energy to the family and jumps at any chance to swim in a lake.
