Financial Planner/Business Development Agent 

This is a split role in which the individual serves as the lead Business Development Agent (75% of time), as well as a Financial Planner (25%).

In the Financial Planner/Business Development Agent (BDA) role, the individual is responsible for driving sales growth for the company. We provide a training period to learn about our unique and in-depth approach to complex financial planning and investment management.

The Financial Planner/BDA develops sales activities through relationship building and identifying prospects matching our unique target clientele. The Financial Planner/BDA is responsible for closing the contract and working as the lead Financial Planner throughout the first year of the contract, then successfully handing off the case to another member of the Planning team.

Syverson Strege is an independent, fee-only RIA, providing comprehensive financial planning and investment management to approximately 500 households. Our team approach is suited for households with complex financial situations, including business owners and executives. We specialize in philanthropic planning and enjoy working with clients who want to use their resources to better their community.

Reports to:

Managing Director

Essential Functions:

  • Identify and meet with prospective clients who meet our target client criteria
  • Articulate Syverson Strege’s value proposition to prospects
  • Establish rapport with prospects
  • Serve as lead FinancialPlanner on select client cases
  • Hand off leads to the Planning team

Competencies:

  • Previous experience in high net worth financial planning, investment, or related fields
  • Proven sales and client generation history
  • Highly motivated
  • Ability to meet sales goals
  • Comfortable with a flexible work atmosphere (office and off-site meetings)
  • Skilled at forming new relationships
  • Strong ability to build rapport
  • Comfortable in a pay-for-production role
  • Client-centered mentality
  • Respectful collaboration with co-workers
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask

None

Work Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment and requires meetings outside of the office.

Physical Demands:

This is largely a sedentary role; however, some lifting is required including exhibit properties and/or promotional materials.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

  • Exempt
  • Approximately 40 hours per week, 8:00-5:00, though this may vary

Travel:

Travel is anticipated

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • CFP® (or obtained within one year)

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • 5+ years of proven sales experience
  • Knowledge of the financial services industry

Salary:

This role has a base salary alongside a pay-for-production incentive for new contracts. The pay structure is uncapped.

  • Series 65 license, or Series 7 or 66 if active within the last two years (required)
  • Bachelor's degree (required)

  • 10+ years of proven sales experience
  • Knowledge of the financial services industry
